A Night to Remember: BISP’s First-Ever Prom & Charity Ball
By Miyuka Kawamura – Student Head of Events and Service
BISP Initially laid grounds for Prom and Charity Ball during Mid-Year Event on 6 December 2024. Since then, Prom and Charity Ball has gone on to become a private prom and charity ball. The Events and Service Committee 2024 designed a memorable night which combined a full-fledged dinner with a charity auction for an educational cause. The event was a remarkable success and was only made possible with teamwork.
Evening of the event, the participants and british international school phuket the students were not only provided dinner. Rather, they were given full-fledged courses, and in between, received international and Thai buffet dinner alongside regular speeches. The entire dinner was accompanied with live music which made the experience memorable. End to end, the division involved in the event arrangement ownership deserves the entire credit as they made the event a remarkable success.
One of the most awaited attractions of the evening was the photo booth. With a line that extended across the room, quite a few were keen to be photographed while wearing an assortment of dazzling props. At the end of the evening, keepsakes of the night were given out, allowing them to cherish the memories of the evening.
The night, alongside numerous speeches, live music performances, and various raffle prize drawings, was filled with captivating moments. As attendees arrived, the doors were opened, signifying the official commencement of the 2024 Prom and Charity Ball with an opening address.
As the night progressed, many attendees were treated to an endless buffet of Thai and international cuisine while some talented singers and pianists performed. In the meantime, some of the students revelled at the possibility of their names being displayed on a spinner and patiently awaited to be chosen as one of the many winners of exciting prizes. To conclude the evening, Secondary Principal, Mr. Pearson, gave an unforgettable closing address.
As much as the evening was glamorous, purposeful as well; the funds that were raised that night, along with the funds from the Halloween Disco donations, were allocated to SOS Village, and the Phuket Has Been Good To Us and Phuket Sunshine Village foundations.
In the spirit of the holidays, thoughtfully selected gifts, as well as necessary items like clothing and toddler supplies, were meticulously prepared to elicit smiles. Because of effective communications between the committee and the various organisations, over 300 gifts were specifically arranged by the Head of Events and Service to suit the recipients’ needs.
In addition, the committee prepared cards that the Donations Coordinator brought for students to decorate, which were intended for BISP students, specifically for IB CAS students and other attendees, to foster the spirit of service learning and enable them to give back beyond monetary contributions. Together, we decorated over 150 celebratory cards in the months of November and December.
The sight of everyone all dressed up and enjoying the event made me realize that celebrations, just like this one, can indeed be memorable but also serve a deeper purpose. I believe this event marks the beginning of a wonderful journey, and I look forward to watching it flourish in the coming years.
To conclude, I would like to extend my gratitude to all the attendees and everyone else who made the event possible, including the Events and Service Committee, the Senior Leadership Team, the Music and Art and BDE Departments, the staff at Ramada Plaza, and the Student Leadership Team. Thank you for helping us make the dream of a starry night a reality.
